CARAVAGGIO
Caravaggio.
I think there’s anything to say.
But since we are …. In addition to the exhibition at Palazzo Venezia in these days, let me give you some addresses where you see the Caravaggio works in Rome.
Start from the Santa Maria del Popolo Church, in Piazza del Popolo, and you will find two of his finest works: The Conversion of St. Paul and the Martyrdom of St. Peter.
Go to Via del Corso and planned a stop at the Galleria Doria Pamphili, to admire the Rest on the escape into Egypt.
Continue towards the center, Piazza Navona, and visit St. Luigi dei Francesi Church, where you could stay long to admire the Calling of San Matteo, but if you have little time, go to the nearby Church of St. Augustine, to see the Madonna of the Pilgrims.
There are other sites where you can admire Caravaggio, as in the Galleria Borghese and Barberini Palace, or the Capitoline Museums and Art Gallery, National Gallery of Ancient Art in Palazzo Corsini, in Trastevere, but you certainly can not see everything in one day!
The rest … the next episode!
